Landscape Waste Collection

Available from April 1 to December 15, LRS provides a simple option for landscape waste collection. LRS offers two services for landscape waste.

Subscription Service:
Subscription Service provides a flat monthly rate that covers up to ten 35-gallon containers or kraft bags. For more than ten kraft bags or containers, a sticker must be affixed onto the additional bags/containers. See the sticker service information below.

Sticker Service:
Sticker Service is a weekly volume-based system where a customer pays for only the quantity of the landscape waste collected. This option is done by the customer purchasing stickers through LRS and placing them on a kraft bag. Bags and cans should not exceed 35 gallons and 50 pounds. Prior to the pickup, the customer must call LRS the Tuesday before service to alert our staff of the requests.

Single-stream Recycling

Having opened Chicagoland’s state-of-the-art single-stream recycling center in 2016, LRS focuses on waste diversion to recycle more and send less waste to landfills. LRS is committed to making the surrounding communities a greener place to live.

LRS has a single-stream recycling center dedicated to sorting and separating recyclables. This 40,000 square-foot facility is designed to handle more than 110,000 tons of high-grade residential and commercial single-stream recyclables, sorting, separating and allocating over 20 tons of waste per hour.

Recycle Tips

  • Recyclable plastic items are #1 – #7 except #6.
  • Recycling materials should be loose and not bagged. If you must use a bag, it needs to be transparent. Black bags will be considered contaminated.
  • Containers that have previously stored liquid or food should be emptied. Food and liquid containers do not have to be rinsed unless it was previously filled with a heavy substance. Examples of heavy substance products include tomato paste, peanut butter and vegetable oil.
  • Lids and caps from plastic bottles and glass jars is preferred to remain intact prior to recycling.
  • To limit the amount of space used, break down any cardboard boxes into pieces.
  • The following items are NOT recyclable although they are made from paper, plastic and cardboard:
    • Pizza boxes
    • Styrofoam
    • Paper plates
    • Plastic cups (i.e. Solo cups)
    • Paper towels
    • Plastic grocery bags
