Residential Recycling Services

In a contract that began on February 1, 2016, Lakeshore Recycling Systems services Winnetka residents through our comprehensive weekly recycling program. The Village of Winnetka Public Works provides garbage pickup on the same schedule. Lakeshore Recycling Systems’ recycling program provides Winnetka residents with the opportunity to support the community by making a positive and environmental impact.

Recycling pickup only occurs at the curb in 95-gallon recycling carts provided by the Village. Lakeshore Recycling Systems provides a weekly Street-side Service from 7a to 5p. Please be advised that customers must have carts out by 7a on the day of service.

Single-Stream Recycling

Having opened Chicagoland’s state-of-the-art single-stream recycling center in 2016, Lakeshore Recycling Systems focuses on waste diversion to recycle more and send less waste to landfills. Lakeshore Recycling Systems vows not to own or operate a landfill and is committed to making the surrounding communities a greener place to live.

Lakeshore Recycling Systems has a single-stream recycling center dedicated to sorting and separating recyclables. This 40,000 square-foot facility is designed to handle more than 110,000 tons of high-grade residential and commercial single-stream recyclables, sorting, separating and allocating over 20 tons of recycling material per hour.

  • Recycling materials should be loose and not bagged. If you must use a bag, it needs to be transparent. Black bags will be considered contaminated.
