Choosing a Dumpster in Chicago: What Types are Available?

If you know you’ll need to dispose of a great deal of trash in the near future, your best bet is to utilize a dumpster. While a series of trash cans might be able to get the job done, this method likely won’t be as convenient as using a single dumpster.

Are you in need of a dumpster in Chicago? If so, you will have a decision to make. There are a number of different types of dumpsters in Chicago available, all with differing capabilities.

To help you decide on a specific type of dumpster, we’re going to discuss some of the many options that are available.

Chicago Trash Compactors

If you’re dealing with substantial amounts of waste on a regular basis, you may want to consider using a trash compactor. Compactors are large dumpsters that are capable of taking in and smashing down waste into small bales.

By compactly smashing trash and debris, they are able to hold a great deal of waste before being emptied. This allows for fewer trips to the landfill and a much more convenient disposal process overall.

Compactors also do a great job of eliminating trash odors. This is because, after they compact the trash, the opening is sealed off from the external atmosphere. Therefore, if you’re working in a confined area, they can go a long way in creating a more tolerable workspace.

Chicago Front-loaded Dumpsters

Front-loaded dumpsters are the type of dumpsters you often see outside of commercial properties. Coming in a wide variety of sizes, they can typically get your business through at least a day of waste disposal. In most cases, they will get you through much more than a day.

Compared to rear-loaded dumpsters, front-loaded dumpsters are typically short and narrow. This allows for them to be stored in fairly compact areas.

Typically, Chicago front-loaded dumpsters will slant slightly to allow for easy and convenient disposal. Generally, you’ll be able to easily drop waste straight down into them; instead of having to throw it over your shoulders.

Chicago Rear-loaded Dumpsters

Also commonly seen outside of commercial properties, rear-loaded dumpsters are both taller and wider than front-loaded dumpsters. Available in a variety of sizes, they will typically hold more waste than front-loaded dumpsters.

Rear-loaded dumpsters are a great option for those who have plenty of room to spare. Because they’re bigger than front-loaded dumpsters, they are much more difficult to fit into compact spaces.

However, if you have the space, they are typically the better choice. More disposal space equals fewer trips to the recycling center. This leads to savings in the long run.

Chicago Roll-off Dumpsters

Roll-off dumpsters are massive, low-sitting dumpsters that are easily accessible to people of all heights. Often used for construction projects, they are known for their convenience and providing an easy-to-reach space for all waste disposal purposes.

Given their long and skinny shape, they can generally be positioned in a manner that prevents them from taking up a great deal of space.

Whether you’re managing a construction site or are just looking to make some renovations to your home, a roll-off dumpster should serve you well.
