Lrs e-waste home collection service provides an environmentally safe method for proper disposal of electronic waste banned from illinois landfills. Scheduling a home collection is quick and simple. Industrial or commercial (business) e-waste will not be accepted.

The items listed below are accepted e-waste materials:
  • Cable receivers
  • Cell phones
  • Computers (desktop, laptop, netbook, notebook, tablet)
  • Computer cable
  • Digital converter boxes
  • Digital video disc players
  • Digital video disc recorder
  • Electronic keyboards
  • Electronic mice
  • Facsimile machines (fax)
  • Portable digital assistant (pda)
  • Portable digital music players
  • Printers
  • Satellite receivers
  • Scanners
  • Small scale servers
  • Tv’s and monitors
  • Videocassette recorders
  • Video game consoles

Items not accepted through this service

If the electronic item is not listed on the Accepted E-Waste Item List, it will not be accepted through this service. We only accept items that are banned from the landfill. Please take note of the following UNACCEPTED materials:

  • Appliances
  • Battery Powered Children’s Toys
  • Batteries (Alkaline, Rechargeable, Lithium, NiCad, Lead Acid, Marine)
  • Fans
  • Lamps
  • Microwaves
  • Smoke Detectors
  • Speakers
  • Vacuum Cleaners

How to prepare e-waste items for collection – simple and quick!

Small e-waste items or one e-waste item

Examples: Cell phone or Portable digital music player

  • Place in a brown paper lunch, brown paper grocery bag, one (1) gallon clear plastic bag, or cardboard box not to exceed 24”x 24”x 24”.
  • Use dark colored marker and mark bag/box in large letters as E- WASTE.
  • Place out near your other materials but not on top of a garbage container.
  • Please make sure placement will be noticeable to drivers.

Medium and large e-waste items

Examples: Printer, Fax Machine, Video Game Console, Computer Monitor

  • Place at least 5’ away from any waste or recycling containers.
  • Do not place on sidewalk or public walking path.
  • Do not place in between containers.
  • Medium sized items do not require any type of marking as they are easily identifiable for drivers so long as they are not blocked by containers.
