Lrs e-waste home collection service provides an environmentally safe method for proper disposal of electronic waste banned from illinois landfills. Scheduling a home collection is quick and simple. Industrial or commercial (business) e-waste will not be accepted.

The items listed below are accepted e-waste materials:

Oil based paints, flammable oils

Oil, Lead, Urethane, Chromium Based Paints, Shellac, Water or Driveway Sealer, Oil Based Stain, Varnish

Pesticides / herbicides / fertilizers

Poison, lawn chemicals, weed killer

Aerosols

Spray-paint, Hairspray, WD-40, Air Fresheners, Spray Adhesives, Oven Cleaner, Insecticide Bug Spray

Automotive chemicals/fluids

Antifreeze, Brake or Transmission Fluid, Gasoline, Diesel, Motor Oil

Pesticides / Houshold cleaners (acidic/caustic)

Bleach, Ammonia, Muriatic Acids, Pool Cleaners, Drain Cleaners, Solvents, Paint Stripper or Thinner

Bulbs/batteries

How to prepare hhw items for collection – simple and quick!

1) segregate bulbs, batteries and ensure liquids are sealed.

Place batteries and small bulbs in clear plastic bags, separated by type. Do not mix batteries or bulb types. Fluorescent bulbs, 4’ or longer can be placed out using one of the following methods:

  • Original packaging
  • Long cardboard box
  • Bubble wrap and taped in the center
  • Two garbage bags, taped in the center- covering both ends of the bulb

Check to ensure caps are tightly sealed on all containers or bottles. Unsealed liquids will not be accepted.

2) place in container or box

  1. Place your items in an open container or cardboard box lined with a garbage bag, preferably clear if possible.
  2. There is a 70 pound weight limit per home/collection.

3) on scheduled collection day, place hhw box/items near your front door or porch area for collection

  1. Place box near your front door or porch area, or the top of your driveway near the garage door.
  2. Please be specific and leave notes if you have special instructions for collection area (ie., upstairs apartment, side door –south side).
  3. Items must be staged outside no later than 6AM on the scheduled day of collection.
  4. Do not leave HHW box at the curb.
  5. Fluorescent bulbs prepared for collection as described in #1, should be placed laying down and staged away from walking path or vehicle traffic area.
