Live Every Day Like It’s Earth Day

Live Every Day Like It’s Earth Day

April 22 marked the annual Earth Day celebration that has been recognized worldwide for nearly 50 years. However, celebrating one day alone does not mean that your sustainability efforts should stop there. Our planet needs us more than just one day of the year; these efforts must be ongoing all year long. Living every day as if it is Earth Day is crucial to healing the Earth and creating a sustainable world. Below are some ways that you can live every day of the year like it is Earth Day:

Recycle

Finding ways to recycle more or reuse products multiple times is a great way to incorporate sustainable activities into your everyday life. If you are not sure what is or is not considered recyclable, click here.

Compost

Composting allows you to turn your food and yard waste into high-grade fertilizer. If you are interested in composting, Lakeshore offers a curbside compost program. To see if your area is eligible for this composting program contact us here.

Create less carbon emissions

Riding a bike, walking, carpooling or taking public transportation are all easy ways to reduce your carbon emissions, while having a healthy and eco-friendly lifestyle.

Encourage others

Encouraging others to live a more sustainable lifestyle also contributes to preserving the Earth. When more people start putting our planet first, our world becomes a better home for all; from people, to wildlife to the Earth itself.

There is still one more chance this month to win a $100 Visa gift card in our #EarthDayNOW. To enter into this contest, tell us something unique that you did for Earth Day 2018. Email us at EarthDay@LRSrecycles.com or use #EarthDayNOW to tell us what sustainable activity you did along with a picture to illustrate your Earth Day efforts! The last winner of this contest will be announced on April 26! Remember that just because April 22’s Earth Day events are over, does not mean your sustainable practices should stop. Keep changing your habits to be more sustainable to really benefit the planet.
