City of La Salle Refuse, Recycling & Yard Waste Collection Program

Effective January 30th, 2023, garbage and recycling will be collected Monday-Thursday in La Salle. Please reference the map below to confirm your collection day. Garbage will be collected weekly and recycling bi-weekly. NOTE: Your service day may have changed from the previous hauler.  Service times may vary. Please have all materials placed curbside by 6AM to ensure collection.

LRS is an Illinois based company with a local operation established nearby in Atkinson, and a call center located in Monmouth! Under the City’s new contract with LRS, residents will see new service enhancements. Please click on the tabs below for more service information.

Important Service Transition Information

The new service with LRS will start on Jan 30th, 2023. However, LRS will start delivering waste carts on January 23rd, 2023.  These carts will be placed curbside close to where your address will receive future services from LRS. You may place the LRS carts out for collection on your first service day. Please see the map for your service day. Some residents may see a change in collection day.

LRS has partnered with the City to enhance the current collection and provide a cart for every resident. LRS will only provide collection for the LRS branded carts that are provided under this new program. If you would like to throw away your personal container. Please place a note on it that states, “PLEASE THROW AWAY THIS CONTAINER.” A note must be left on the container for the driver to throw away your personal property.

The current hauler will continue to provide collection through January 27th.  After they collect your trash, a separate truck will pick up any existing carts on the same day, so please leave those carts at the curb until they are collected.

Garbage Collection Schedule

Recycling Collection Schedule

Clarendon Hills Residential Waste & Recycling

Please confirm with the map above for your designated service day. All garbage will be collected starting at 6AM on the service day, garbage is collected weekly. Service times are subject to change. LRS provides wheeled carts with a flip-top lid and handlebar to throw your garbage in. All garbage carts are 95-gallon in size. Residents may request an additional garbage cart by contacting the City of La Salle.

Garbage collection is limited. Residents are to use the LRS cart first for any garbage. Any garbage outside of the cart requires one waste sticker per bag or container. Please see below for more information on stickers.

For trash that does not fit in the cart, please bag it and affix a single refuse sticker to the front of the bag or container so that it is visible to the driver. Bags of waste outside of the cart must have a sticker affixed to the bag to receive collection. Refuse stickers are $2.75 each, and may be purchased at City Hall, Illinois Valley Foods, or any other future participating local businesses.

Residents may use a non-LRS cart or container for waste materials that do not fit into the LRS issued cart, so long as it does not exceed 32 gallons, 50 lbs., and has two handles and a lid. One sticker must also be attached.

Recycling Schedule LaSalle 2024

Christmas Trees

For the whole month of January, LRS will collect your non-artificial Christmas trees as organic material – free of any tinsel, ornaments or lights. Trees should be left loose (never in bags) in the area where you have regular service for trash and recycling.  Due to snow and ice, trees may not always be picked up on your service day as our drivers and trucks will be in the city all month for pickups.

If a single household item is too large to fit in a cart, then it is considered a bulk item. LRS will accept one bulk item each week! Please place the bulk item next to your trash cart on your regularly scheduled collection day.

If the item is heavier than 50 lbs., please contact LRS to schedule the collection with our customer experience team so they can provide adequate equipment to handle the item safely. Additional bulk items placed out on the same day will require 10 refuse stickers to be affixed to each single item to avoid a city ordinance violation.

Examples of a bulk or large item exceeding the capacity of the LRS refuse (garbage) cart, includes the following: bed frame, box spring (bed), bicycle, chair, love seat/sofa, one part of sectional couch, mattress, frame, or wall picture. These are only some examples as there are many items that may be considered bulk items.

For health and safety reasons, mattresses must be wrapped in plastic to be collected. Plastic mattress wrap can be found online or at local grocery stores, hardware stores, storage and moving outlets. If using loose plastic, it must be completely taped and secured on all corners with no exposure to the mattress.

Please call LRS if you are unsure if an item requires additional labor or equipment at 309.586.4410 or send a request with a photo of the item(s) by e-mail to Monmouth@LRSRecycles.com.

How do I clean my cart?

Fill the cart with hot water and a capful of vinegar or grease-cutting dish soap. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and rinse. Once the cart has been thoroughly rinsed, set the cart out with the lid open in the sun to dry.

What if I need my cart replaced?

Carts that are broken due to damage incurred during the collection are reported by the driver for replacement at no charge. Residents are encouraged to contact LRS if they notice damage to the cart during the collection process to request a replacement cart.

If damage occurs to the cart due to other reasons, please contact LRS to request a replacement cart.

Is this considered garbage?

Latex paint

Latex paint is considered regular garbage, but it must be completely dried, with the lid off so the driver is able to see inside the can. Dry latex paint by leaving lid off or open and/or mix kitty litter until the paint is completely absorbed. Do not place out for collection until the paint is completely dry.

Alkaline batteries

Alkaline batteries are considered regular garbage and should be thrown into the garbage. It is always recommended that tape be used on each end of the battery and placed into a plastic sandwich bag when disposing of them.

How do I report a missed pickup?

If your waste or recycling is not collected on the service day by 7pm, please contact LRS by calling 309.586.4410 or e-mailing Monmouth@LRSRecycles.com

Please include your address and what service was missed.
