New Technology: RFID

In order to verify service, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips are added to the current recycling carts and new garbage carts. Lakeshore Recycling Systems’ RFID technology implementation will track customer pickups and bill residents without the cumbersome act of buying stickers.

Garbage Stickers

With the implementation of RFID chips, garbage stickers will not be needed for weekly service. Residents will be charged a reduced rate for each garbage and recycling pickup.

Yard Waste/Organic Stickers

As a new service offering, Wheaton residents now have the availability to include food scraps (organics) with their yard waste. Stickers for this service can be purchased at a reduced price of $2.99 per sticker.

Miscellaneous Items

Stickers will be required for electronics, excess garbage and bulk items.

What Do Residents Need to Do?

Lakeshore Recycling Systems offers the following cart sizes:

  • 65-gallon
  • 95-gallon
