Unique Ways to Celebrate Earth Day

Unique Ways to Celebrate Earth Day

Every year, Earth Day is celebrated on April 22. Since the United States’ first Earth Day in 1970, people recognize this as a way to learn how to make a positive environmental impact on the Earth. Earth Day is a time where people all around the world share their ideas and practices on how to preserve the environment and look for ways to improve our world.

Lakeshore is celebrating Earth Day the entire month of April to encourage others to participate. If you are looking for ways to take part in Earth Day this year, Lakeshore has a few suggestions on how to do something fun and different that benefits our planet. Below are some ways you can make a difference:

  • Create or join an environmental group

There are many local and national organizations that have the goal of making the world a better place. Volunteering with an organization or group that has a focus on sustainability is a great way to utilize your time and talents to help the Earth. If there is not an organization near you, make one!

  • Start a recycling plan

If you don’t have a recycling plan for your home or workplace, now is a great time to create one. If you do have a plan in place, finding ways to improve it can also create a big impact on the Earth.

  • Plant a Tree

Creating your own garden or planting a tree can be an eco-friendly way to celebrate Earth Day and can be a fun activity for kids as well.

  • Organize a community clean up event

If you enjoy event planning, organizing a local clean up event would be an exciting way to do what you love and help the Earth. Putting together a community clean up event will also allow you to meet and connect with your neighbors while benefitting the Earth.

  • Sign up for online invoices for all of your bills

Switching to online billing is a great way to reduce paper and save millions of trees a year. Lakeshore offers online invoicing to our customers as a greener and more efficient way to pay their bills.

As part of Lakeshore’s Earth Day celebration, you have three chances to win a $100 visa gift card by telling us your own unique way of celebrating Earth Day. These “go green” ideas and practices are what protecting the Earth is all about and truly makes a difference. Throughout the entire month of April, email us your ideas at EarthDay@LRSrecycles.com or tell us on social media with the hashtag #EarthDayNOW to enter in the contest. One winner will be chosen each week of April and announced on our social media for our #ThoughtfulThursday. The first winner will be announced on April 12, 2018.

Earth Day should not just be celebrated on one day or one month but every day. Earth Day matters because we only have one Earth and we should do everything to protect it. Lakeshore strives to provide environmentally responsible waste and recycling solutions to all of our customers to do our part in sustaining the Earth. When everyone starts living every day like it is Earth Day, the world will be positively impacted by the efforts.
