Working at Lakeshore

Working at Lakeshore

Lakeshore Recycling Systems is one of the largest independent waste companies in the Midwest that offers comprehensive waste removal for Chicagoland businesses and residential homeowners. Lakeshore owns and operates nearly 10 Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), over 400 fuel-efficient natural gas-powered trucks along with over 780 full-time employees that are a part of the Lakeshore family. Lakeshore was also named one of the Best and Brightest places to work in Chicago and in the nation for two years in a row.

Not only does working at Lakeshore give you a deeper look into the waste and recycling industry but it also allows you to provide others with sustainable options for their waste. Lakeshore is a company with environmentally responsible business practices. Most waste companies make their revenue from owning a landfill and bring waste to the landfills. Lakeshore makes a profit by diverting as much waste as possible from landfills and providing customers with other solutions for their waste. Without landfill ownership, Lakeshore sets itself apart from other waste haulers and truly sets the precedent when it comes to innovative and sustainable waste and recycling solutions.

In addition to residential and commercial services, Lakeshore also offers customers temporary services such as portable restroom rentals, roll-off dumpsters, street sweepers, mulch and on-site storage. These temporary services are perfect for any construction or demolition project or events all throughout the region.

Along with our waste and recycling pick-ups, customers have the option to sign up for curbside organic compost pick-ups and only being charged when their containers are emptied using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. Lakeshore was the first privately-held waste diversion company in the United States to incorporate RFID technology into operations as well as one of the first companies to offer curbside organic pick-ups. Lakeshore was also one of the first privately-held companies in the nation to introduce an aerobic digester that converts food and yard waste into high grade fertilizer.

Due to all of the sustainability efforts and new advancements that Lakeshore implements into its business practices, joining the Lakeshore team means that you will be a part of an award-winning company. Lakeshore was the recipient of many highly sought-after awards such as the 2017 Illinois Sustainability Award, numerous American Business Awards as well as the 2018 Daily Business Herald Award for Business Excellence in the category of Innovation in Business to name a few. Innovation and a commitment to sustainability is key to Lakeshore’s success and industry leadership.

Working at Lakeshore offers unlimited growth possibilities and the unique opportunity to build relationships and preserve the environment.
