La Grange Park refuse, recycling and yard-waste collection program

LRS is excited to become the Village of La Grange Park’s waste and recycling hauler as of April 1, 2019. We know that Village residents have high expectations when it comes to service, quality and value; we intend to exceed those standards.

With the Village’s new hauling agreement, (most) residents will notice a cost-savings, as well as an improvement in service options and enhanced curbside appearance.

With the transition occurring from Republic Services to LRS on April 1, 2019, residents should avoid buying large amounts of Republic stickers. However, LRS will accept Republic stickers through the month of April.

What Is Changing?

  • Stickers will no longer be used for standard weekly waste and recycling pickups.
  • Stickers will be used for extra garbage, yard waste, e-waste, bulk items, etc.
  • Every home will receive one waste cart and one recycling cart; residents will have the option of using a 35-gallon, 65-gallon or 95-gallon for garbage, and a35-gallon, 65-gallon or 95-gallon cart for recycling.
  • Residents will now be charged a monthly fee for services, which will be billed quarterly.
  • The Village will be serviced on a three-day schedule. Residents will either continue being serviced on Thursday, or be moved to Wednesday or Friday.

What You Need To Do

  • Residents should decide which size of cart they would like to use. Samples will also be available for review at Village Hall.

Waste & recycling Carts

With the transition to an all-cart program, (most) La Grange Park residents will notice not only a savings in the cost of service and stickers but also an improvement in the curbside appearance on service days that will allow for cleaner streets and more efficient service.

Carts will be delivered starting on March 22nd, and continue through March 29th. All carts will be delivered at curbside, and should not be used for service until March 29th.

On service days, residents who are new to the cart format should plan on having carts out for service by 7AM. Carts should be placed at least 3’ from mailboxes, trees, light poles or parked cars, and 1’ – 2’ from the curb or other carts. If you have been using your own garbage can with a sticker, you can either keep that cart for your general home needs, or we will take it at no cost – as long as it is labeled “Please take/dispose.”

General Collection Guidelines

All garbage, recycling and yard waste will be serviced between 7AM and 5PM on collection days. Please have your carts out for service between 7PM the night before service, and 6AM on your collection day. Carts should be removed from the curbside by 7PM on collection days.

Garbage Collection

If you have additional garbage that will not fit into your cart, you must use a garbage sticker for each bag or item outside of the cart. Stickers can be purchased at Village Hall, or the same vendors that have carried them in the past. There is no limit on the amount of bags that can be collected, as long as each bag has a sticker. Please note: garbage mixed with yard waste / leaves / grass clippings cannot be taken as waste.

Recycling Collection

Residents can mix recyclable items in their recycle cart. There is no limit on the amount of recyclable material that can be put out for service each week. Excess items that will not fit into recycle carts may be placed on the side of the cart for collection, and will not require a sticker. Residents are encouraged to consider a larger recycle carts to keep pace with the increasing amounts of material that are recyclable, and the advent of online purchasing (cardboard-based).

Please do not place plastic bags in your recycling cart.

Yard Waste Collection

Residents should continue to use brown (kraft) bags for yard waste disposal. Each bag will require one sticker. LRS also offers a seasonal option, in which residents will be provided a yard waste cart, or continue to use brown bags.

Yard waste that will not fit into a brown bag or cart will need to be bundled in units that are no longer than 4’ and 18” in diameter. Each stack will require one waste sticker for removal. Yard waste in plastic bags will not be accepted.

LRS will provide collection of organic Christmas trees for the first two weeks after Christmas at no charge. Beyond this, trees will require five stickers each.

Bulk Items

Bulk items are items that are too large to fit into your waste cart. Each bulk item requires waste stickers affixed. Carpet rolls may be no longer than 4’ and 18” in diameter and will require waste stickers. If an item is too large, or an item that is not allowable to take, special arrangements may need to be made.

White Goods

White goods are appliances containing CFC, HCFC, PCBs mercury switches or other hazardous components.

Examples: refrigerators, air conditioners and humidifiers. These items will require waste stickers to be collected. All white goods will be collected on a separate truck, and will need to be scheduled.

Do-It-Yourself Construction

DIY construction or demolition debris will require waste stickers per stack or 35-gallon container. These stacks and/or containers may be no more than 50lbs per unit, and no more than 4’ in length and 18” in diameter.

Residents will be billed on a quarterly basis, in advance. As a means to be environmentally friendly, we encourage you to pay electronically. For those residents taking advantage of this option, you may choose to pay with an automatic bank draw or via ACH transfer from an account that you authorize.

Please take advantage of the paperless billing option. Those that choose to have the invoices mailed will incur a $2.00 fee per invoice.

Stickers will be needed for yard waste, extra garbage (outside of cart), bulk items and electronic waste. Stickers can be purchased at Village Hall and the same retail outlets at a cost of $3.28 PER STICKER

Stickers can be purchased at Village Hall or at JEWEL (507 E WOODLAWN AVE)

  • Bulk Item = 2 stickers per unit
  • White Good = 2 stickers per unit
  • Electronic Waste = 1 sticker per single (small) item, 5 stickers per bundle within a brown paper bag, 10 stickers per television or monitor.

The weekly collection of garbage, recycling and yard waste will be less expensive with the new program. The following is a list of charges for various cart sizes and services:

Campton Township Enrollment and Cart Exchange

This service request is available to Campton Township residents only.

Before you begin, LRS recommends reviewing the service level details and options at  LRSrecycles.com/campton-township.

  • Please select your mail preferences below.

Mill Creek Enrollment and Cart Exchange

Welcome to the LRS Mill Creek Service Enrollment or Service Change Request web portal.  We look forward to servicing the Mill Creek Community beginning the week of November 1st, 2021!

Mill Creek residents may use this web portal to:

WELCOME TO THE SCHAUMBURG CART SELECTION PORTAL!

Crews will begin delivering carts daily except for Sundays beginning in mid-April. Residents must choose their preferred cart size for waste and recycling by March 18, 2022. All homes will receive new carts unless residents select the option to use their own personal containers for waste and recycling. Not every home will receive one or both carts on the same day or at the same time.

The default sizes for single-family homes are 96 gallons for waste and 64 gallons for recycling. The default sizes for multi-family homes are 64 gallons for both waste and recycling. Any requests made after the 18th for sizes different than the default, or for additional carts, will be granted immediately following the completion of the initial delivery period in the community.
